Full Description

Two-storey barn dating to the late 19th century with the gable end facing onto New Road (B5023), located next to a cemetery on the northern edge of Middleton, and surveyed in March and June 2016 as part of the DerwentWISE Field Barns Project. Built of irregular shaped stone with large regular shaped quoins on the corners, the 6m x 5m barn is in fair overall condition with an intact roof, a taking-in door in the north-east elevation, an elevated door in the south-west elevation, and a small door and low level glazed window in the south-east elevation. (2) There is an earlier, smaller structure set away from the road visible on the first edition 25"OS Map of c. 1880. (3)
