Full Description

SK 1145 7517: WIND LOW, CROSS BASE. A large square sandstone wayside cross-base surmounts Wind Low. (1) [SK 113 751] "Tunstid Cross". (2). Cross. (3). See G.P's AO/66/10/5 & 6. The cross base is situated at SK 1144 7516. (4) The cross-base has been in its present position since at least 1846 as it is noted by T. Bateman in his account of excavations at the barrow [SMR 15642]. The base is of square type with tapering sides, and a sub rectangular socket on the top face. ( )
