Full Description

Newhouses Farm, Peak Forest. Partially extant 19th century farmstead. The farmstead is of a linear plan with one side of the yard formed of agricultural buildings and additional detached elements to the main plan. The farmhouse is attached to the agricultural range. The site is in an isolated location. There has been a partial loss (less than 50%) of traditional buildings. (1-4) A building survey carried out in 2018 found that the original 19th century farmhouse was in the eastern part of the building, with a cow house and hayloft above comprising the rest. A marriage stone inscribed with a date of 1673 was reused from another building, and placed as a lintel above the main door to the farmhouse. (5)
