Full Description

The strip lynchets on a south bank near Windmill, are called locally 'lenches'. (1) SK 169 781. Strip lynchets visible on aerial photographs taken in 1948. (2) The lynchets, only c. 0.3m high, form narrow field strips, diagonally across the hillside. They are probably the result of 18th or 19th century agricultural methods. (3) The strip lynchets have been plotted using an aerial photograph. (5)
