Full Description
Hollowford Barn, Hollowford Road, Castleton, an early 19th century building.
'Outfarm on Hollowford Road, Castleton. Extant 19th century outfarm. The outfarm is formed of a single structure. The site is in an isolated location. All the traditional buildings remain extant.' (1-4)
The barn was subject to an historical building survey carried out in 2024 in advance of proposed redevelopment: 'The barn was likely built in the early 19th century as a purpose built cow house with hay loft over serving a small farming practice. It remained as such throughout its life, with the hay barn constructed in the early 20th century.' (5)
The more recently added hayloft has an adjustable roof. (6-7)
