Monument record MDR1852 - ?Linear boundary (site of), Great Hucklow

Type and Period (2)

Protected Status/Designation

  • None recorded

Full Description

Centred on SK 1795 7765, at Great Hucklow, is a bank representing the medieval township boundary. (1). There is no earthwork at this site. This wall does not follow any known manorial, parish or township boundary. It is assumed that the original record was identifying a boundary of the township strip fields; Senior's map of 1631 shows that this is not the case, it lay further to the north-east. (2).
