Full Description

Orchard, Peppercorn and Dairy Cottage, Garner Lane, Brough and Shatton, a 17th century building. 'Farmstead south of Westfield House, Brough and Shatton. Extant 17th century farmstead. The farmstead is of a linear plan. The farmhouse is attached to the agricultural range. The site is in an isolated location. All the traditional buildings remain extant.' (1-4) From the National Heritage List for England: 'SK 28 SW PARISH OF BROUGH AND SHATTON GARNER LANE 8/12 (South Side) Outbuildings south of Westfield House II House and outbuildings now all outbuildings. Late C17 and C19. Coursed gritstone with gritstone dressings. Stone slate roof with one stone coped gable. Two storeys. West elevation; former house in centre of three bays. Doorway with stone lintel and plank door. To the left, a 3-light recessed and chamfered mullion window and to the right a blocked doorway with massive lintel and window set in. Two windows above, to the right a 3-light recessed and chamfered mullion window and to the left a former 2-light window with recessed and chamfered surround. Outbuilding to the right with two doorways and a window above. c19 outbuilding attached to the left has a doorway and two windows above, all with massive stone lintels and jambs.
