Churchdale Cottage, Churchdale Lane, Ashford in the Water, an early 19th century building with earlier materials. 'Churchdale Cottage, Ashford in the Water. Partially extant 17th century farmstead. The farmstead is formed of a regular courtyard of L-plan with additional detached elements to the main plan and three sides of the yard formed of agricultural buildings. The farmhouse is set away from the yard. The site is in an isolated location. There has been a partial loss (less than 50%) of traditional buildings.' (1-4) From the National Heritage List for England: 'SK 27 SW PARISH OF ASHFORD IN THE WATER CHURCHDALE LANE 3/25 (West Side) 22.10.81 Churchdale Cottage GV II Cottage. Dated 1647 but probably early C19. Coursed limestone rubble, gritstone dressings. Stone slate roof covered in bitumen. Stone gable end stacks. Two bays, two storeys. Chamfered quoined doorcase to north. Lintel over inscribed 'GV 1647'. Flat hood over. To south, two 4-light recessed and chamfered mullion windows with single pane casements. Above, two 3-light recessed and chamfered mullion windows in gabled dormers. Listing NGR: SK2052070866.' (5)
