Full Description

SK 118714. A Neolithic occupation site was found on Calton Hill during quarrying when the area was stripped of overburden. Numerous artifacts have been found on an area 900 by 200 yards, but with a denser area limited to 100 yards square. Collections made by C. E. Exley and R. Carr include 29 polished axes, 43 scrapers, 7 knives, arrowheads, saws, and 13 sherds of Neolithic pottery. (1)
