SK 1435 8921: Upper Ashop, Rotary quern topstone: The upper stone of a rotary quern was found during the construction of the Ashop Water Course, in the bed of a small stream below Upper Ashop Farm where it is crossed by the Water Course. Kept at Derwent Valley Water Board's Yorkshire Bridge Filters. Bamford. (1) The quern, found c. 1926, was on view at the Water Board's Bamford offices in the mid-1960s. (2) The stream appears to be crossed by the Ashop Water Course at approx. SK 14418925.
