Full Description

A single storey 4m x 7m post-medieval barn built from regular and irregular shaped stone with a sloping corrugated iron roof and a door in the south-east elevation, in a fair overall condition. The 4m x 5m main barn has a lower, longer 20th century extension on the northeast elevation, and is located on the eastern edge of the B5023 close to a cemetery on the northern outskirts of Middleton. It was surveyed as part of the DerwentWISE Field Barn Project in October 2016. See survey report for further details. (1) The original barn is visible on the first edition 25"OS Map of c. 1880. The extension does not appear on any earlier maps. (2)
