Full Description

SK 126 830: Windy Knoll, Quarry: A limestone quarry at Windy Knoll. (1,2). The main quarry was dug to provide limestone. It comprises a main pit, a track from the entrance and a series of shallow pits which are probably smaller quarries that pre-date the main one. There are also two shafts and workings nearby and therefore the possibility that some are pipe workings for lead or Blue John cannot be discounted. (3).
