Full Description
An air raid shelter was reported to have been located east of No. 89 Sheffield Road, Chesterfield, by local residents who remembered its construction. Non-archaeological test pits were excavated during groundworks at the site to locate the shelter. The concrete roof was slightly curved and found 1.1m below the current ground surface, and the shelter itself was effectively a long corridor running east - west with entrance ramps at either end.
