Full Description

A horseshoe-shaped enclosure is shown at this location on Sanderson's map of 1835, and is not shown on the earlier map of 1758, within the grounds of the former Wingerworth Hall. A round feature is shown on the 1st edition 25" OS map of c1880, set within this horseshoe-shaped, ornamental enclosure. Recent (2018) photographs taken of the former fountain show that it is presently dry and unused, despite the fact that modern OS mapping shows it with water and labelled as 'Pond.'
