Full Description

A layer of ashy debris was uncovered just above subsoil in Trench 3 during an evaluation at Newstead Home for the Elderly, Main Street, Winster, in 2011. 'The deposit contained ash, charcoal and broken pottery of the Victorian period, suggesting a dump of household debris deposited during the 19th or early 20th century.' The pottery was not described in detail by the final report. (1)
