Protected Status/Designation

Full Description

An excavation carried out in 2018 revealed three possible palaeochannels. 'These were all aligned north - east to south - west with irregular edges, and were fairly shallow, measuring between 0.15 and 0.30 in thickness. The deposits were all of sticky grey clay with occasional sandstone inclusions and directly overlay the natural clay geology. All three of these deposits were indicative of former intermittent palaeochannels in a marsh like environment.' (1)
