Full Description

Road surface at Calke Abbey, Calke, of 18th century date. During a watching brief carried out in 2005, a road surface was revealed that may have been the 18th century route to the stable block of the abbey. The surface was made of compacted, smooth cobbles set into a red concretionary mixture. (1)
