Full Description

Ridge and Furrow of Rykneld Road, Derby, of unknown date. During a watching brief carried out in 2018 on a plot directly off Rykneld Road, ridge and furrow was recorded, and the furrows contained fills with 19th century finds, suggesting that ground levelling activities had occurred at that time to reduce the dimensions of the earthworks in this particular area. (1) According to Google imagery (air photos) dating to between 1999 to 2017, this feature also survives in adjacent fields to the west.
