Full Description

Remains of wall and waste pit, Town End, Taddington, 17th and 19th century finds were recovered. During a watching brief carried out over groundworks related to the erection of four houses, the foundation of a rubble wall and a waste pit were uncovered. The wall appeared to be what was left of an early post medieval wall collapsed, and 17th century clay tobacco pipe fragments were associated with it. It was concluded that this wall was predecessor to the current property boundary wall. A waste pit was also identified, filled with 19th century backfill; the original date of this pit is unknown.
