Hall in Jessop Park to south of the Monument, off Monument Lane, Ironville, built c1854.

4/42 Hall in Jessop Park to South of the Monument
GV II
Recreational hall. Built c1854 by the Butterley Iron Company. Coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and slate roof with vented ridge, full length roof lights to either side and stone coped gables, also with dentilled eaves bands. Single storey and 5 bays long. Plinth and clasping corner pilasters. Gabled north elevation has central large semi-circular headed doorcase with double panelled doors and flanking pilasters. Above, the pedimented gable has 5 stepped semi- circular headed windows to centre and slightly advanced panels to sides. Side elevation have similar central doorcases flanked by pairs of pilasters with blank walls between. Interior has iron strut roof trusses supporting a very wide span. Built by the Butterley Iron Company in Jessop Park, a recreational area provided for their workers. Source: Philip Rider 'The Butterley Company 1780-1830'.
