Full Description

SK 1763 8189 : Lee House, Stone Axe: Neolithic axe, probably of Cornish greenstone, was found at SK 1763 8189, in the southern part of the field between Lee House and Stretfield Road. In the possession of Mr S. Cooper of Bradwell. (1). Mr. Cooper confirmed the indicated findspot. (2). Dimensions: length 4.8in, breadth 0.4in (butt), 2.2.in (cutting edge), thickness 1.4in. A polished stone axe found in June 1959, by Mr J. Easter foreman with Lehane, Mackenzie and Shard Ltd., contractors to STWA in the southern part of the field between Lee House and Stretfield Road. (3)
