Castle Cottages, Lower Road, Mackworth, an 18th century building. From the National Heritage List for England: 'SK 33 NW PARISH OF MACKWORTH LOWER ROAD 6/84 (North Side) Castle Cottages GV II Terrace of four cottages, now two. C18, raised in C19. Coursed squared gritstone and red brick. Welsh slate roof with two brick ridge stacks. Two storeys. Chamfered stone plinth, probably using stone robbed from the castle. Red brick above. South elevation of four bays. Ground floor has, from the left, a blocked doorway with segmental arch, two 2-light casement windows under segmental arches, a doorway with segmental arch and plank door, a similar blocked doorway, two similar windows and a similar doorway. Four 2-light casement windows above under flat arches. Listing NGR: SK3135237821.' (1)
