Milepost, Chesterfield Road, Pentrich, a mid-19th century structure. From the National Heritage List for England: 'SK 35 SE PARISH OF PENTRICH CHESTERFIELD ROAD 4/83 (West Side) Milepost II Milepost. Mid C19. Cast iron milepost with dished upper face bearing the inscription 'PARISH OF PENTRICH', J HAYWOOD JNR, North-east face reads 'DERBY 11 MILES'. South-west face reads. CLAY CROSS 7 MILES, CHESTERFIELD 12 MILES, DRONFIELD 18 MILES, SHEFFIELD 23 MILES. The milepost is situated on the route of the former direct turnpike route between Derby and Sheffield, shown on Burdetts map of Derbyshire, 1762-7. Listing NGR: SK3824553405.' (1)
