Full Description

Lime kiln at Milltown Quarry, off Jetting Street, Ashover, a post medieval building. The structure is shown on the 1st edition 25" OS map of c1880, where it is labelled 'Old Lime Kiln.' By the time of the 2nd edition 25" OS map of 1898, it is no longer labelled, but a short trackway is shown leading to the location. This trackway is still shown on the 3rd edition 25" map of 1917, leading to what appears to be a building. In 2023, a member of the public took a photo of the structure, which also shows the trackway embedded in modern tarmac (please see linked image). (1)
