Full Description

Pit, No. 22 Ford Street, Derby, an 18th or 19th century feature. During an evaluation carried out in 2022 prior to the construction of a new building on the site of a former public house, a single pit, described as 'modern,' c0.5m wide and deep was recorded in section. It was found to contain 18th or 19th century pottery, CMB and charcoal. (1) The remainder of the area exposed within the trenches were 'made ground deposits,' containing 18th or 19th century pottery, nails, oyster shell, CMB and charcoal, in addition to more modern finds. One unstratified 13th or 14th century pottery sherd was also recovered. (1)
