Milepost, southwest of King's Mill Lane, Trent and Mersey Canal, Weston upon Trent, erected in 1819. From the National Heritage List for England: 'SK 42 NW PARISH OF WESTON-UPON-TRENT KINGS MILL LANE 4/259 (West Side) Canal Milepost near Weston Lock at SK 407 277 II Canal milepost. 1819, produced by Rangeley and Dixon. Cast iron. Circular stem, now mostly buried, with shallow segmental curved plate near top and moulded circular head. The curved plate has two panels, that to east inscribed 'SHARDLOW 3 MILES' and that to west inscribed 'PRESTON BROOK 89 MILES'. Erected as part of a series of mileposts on the Trent and Mersey Canal.
