Full Description

Former site of Alrewas House, Mayfield Road, Clifton and Compton, probably a 17th century building. Previously Grade II Listed: 'The following building was de-listed on 19th November 1996. SK 14 NE PARISH OF CLIFTON AND COMPTON MAYFIELD ROAD 1/44 (South Side) Alrewas House II House. Probably C17, substantially remodelled in C19. Cement rendered. Hipped tile roof to north wing, tile roof to south wing with coped gables and moulded kneelers. Dentilled eaves band. Three brick stacks. Two and three storeys. Irregular plan and elevations. West elevation with three bays, brought forward to right, with central round-arched entrance, flanked by glazing bar sashes. Three glazing bar sashes above. Projecting two storey canted bay window with hipped roof to left. Porch with hipped roof to left again. Round arched doorway with double doors, half glazed and fanlight. Glazing bar sash to left. One sash window above and a blocked window. Two windows above again. North elevation with a two storey canted bay window and two four-pane sashes above. Large ground floor canted bay to east. Interiors mostly C19, with lower rooms and doorways in south west wing. Early C19 chimney pieces and staircase with iron balustrade. Listing NGR: SK1587145539.'
