Full Description

Former site of a lime kiln, west of Oxcroft Lane, Old Bolsover, of 19th century date. The 1st edition 25" OS map of c1880 shows an irregular shaped building (part round, part rectangular) labelled 'Limekilns,' but on the 2nd edition 25" OS map of 1898 there is only a round building labelled 'Old Limekiln.' By the time of the 3rd edition 25" OS map of 1918 the building was gone. A geophysical survey carried out in 2024 does not appear to have covered the exact area where the lime kiln was located, but a number of anomalies were recorded. (1)
