Nos. 1-2 Eastwood Cottages, The Dale, Hathersage, part of a mid-18th century terrace. From the National Heritage List for England: 'SK 23 81 PARISH OF HATHERSAGE THE DALE 6/21 (North Side) Nos 1 and 2 Eastwood Cottages GV II Two cottages, part of a terrace of seven. Mid C18. Coursed squared gritstone with quoins, coped gable and moulded kneelers to west end. Straight joint in masonry at junction with remaining cottages to east end. Intermediate and end stone stacks, stone and Welsh slates. Three storeys, two bays, with 2-light flush mullioned windows to ground and first floors and 2-light casements. below plain lintels to second floor. Glazing bars to windows at eastern end. Central doorway with massive lintel and surround, and plain planked door. History: the terrace of which this building forms a part was formerly associated with the nearby Dale Mill, used for wire drawing and needle manufacture. Listed for group value only.
