Northern retaining wall and loading bays, Cromford Wharf, Off Mill Road, Cromford, build c1794.
From the National Heritage List for England:
'SK 2857/2957 CROMFORD MILL ROAD
668-0/2/10005 Northern retaining wall with 08.05.1992 loading bays at Cromford Wharf
GV II Retaining wall with loading bays. 1794 (as Northern Warehouse (qv)). Coursed dressed gritstones. Low retaining wall of 3, deep courses capped by large edging blocks. At its centre the wall curves into a square-ended loading bay to serve the incoming wharf at Cromford Basin. Near the northern warehouse the wall curves into a further loading bay and has a set of gritstone steps attached. Included for group va1ue.
