Bath House, No. 2 Macclesfield Road, Buxton, a late 18th century building.

House. Late C18 with early and later C19 alterations. Pebble dashed rubble stone with gritstone dressing, concrete tiles to front, stone slates to rear, and stone gable stacks. PLAN: L-plan. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys with 2-storey wing. Garden front has 3-window range. Central doorway with half-glazed double panel doors, under projecting gabled porch with stone slate roof. To left a 2 storey wooden canted bay window with flat lead roof and 2/2 and plain sashes. To right a 2/2 sash with Tudor hoodmould and similar sash above. Central 2/2 sash window between first and second floors. Top floor has either side a single 2-light sliding sash with glazing bars and Tudor hoodmoulds. Left return has single 2/2 sash to each floor, and rear wing has single 3/6 sash to each floor. INTERIOR: not inspected. This is probably the building referred to by Pilkington in 1789 as being in course of erection for Dr Norton.
