Full Description
SK 141 975: Ronksley Moor, ?Long Barrow: (SK 142974) There is a mound, 200ft. long and 10ft. high, on Fair Banks, Ronksley Moor. It is a possible, but doubtful, long barrow with a chamber at the larger N.E. end. (1)
Scheduled. (2)
This is probably the long mound at SK 14009718. It is the centre one of three Natural peat mounds, closely arranged in line NNE-SSW: there is no evidence of a chamber. (3)
Dimensions: L: 45-60m (150-200ft), H: 3-4m (10-12ft) (9)
This site was visited in 1983 but not 1988. It is generally agreed to be a natural feature and not a long cairn as once postulated. (10)
