Former spinning mill, Market Street, Draycott and Church Wilne, a mid-19th century building. From the National Heritage List for England: 'SK 43 SW 1194-/3/10004 DRAYCOTT & CHURCH WILNE MARKET STREET (west side) Leavers machine shed at Draycott Mills II GV Cotton spinning mill, now lace factory. c1840-1850. Fireproof construction, brick and cast iron, with rubbed brick and ashlar dressings. Flat roof behind coped parapet. Single storey, 4 x 2 bays. North and south sides have 4 segment arched cast iron glazing bar casements set in segment arched recesses with rubbed brick heads. North east window replaced by late C20 double doors. East end adjoins the engine house of the front range. West end has 2 blank recesses. Interior has in the centre 2 transverse cast iron beams carrying brick jack arches. At each end, 3 lengthwise beams carrying smallerjack arches. 8 evenly spaced square skylights with cast iron frames. 3 cast iron columns on the centre line, with bolting faces for lineshaft to run transversely. The flat roof is said formerly to have been used as a water reservoir. This building is part of an integrated works for the manufacture of cotton yarn and lace. This type of fireproof construction is rare outside the cotton spinning districts of Greater Manchester. Single storey fireproof buildings are extremely rare: the survey of Cotton Mills in Greater Manchester recorded only two. Listing NGR: SK4424833167.' (1)
