Former engine house and chimney, Civic Way, Swadlincote, a mid-19th century building. From the National Heritage List for England: 'This list entry was subject to a Minor Amendment on 22 October 2021 to reformat text to current standards SK 31 NW 4/28 BELMONT STREET (south-east side) Chimney and former Engine House at premises of Birkett and Roberts II Mid to late C19. Engine house and chimney, in prominent town centre position. Engine House in red brick. Slate roof with stone coped gable ends. Two storeys. End elevation three windows, sides five windows with cambered heads and glazing bars. Ground floor altered with extra large doors. Chimney. Tall chimney red brick but with decorative bands of blue and white brickwork and, below heavy cornice, is a large double square 'M' in white brickwork, on each face. Square section. Landmark.
