Tombstone of Micah Salt, Buxton Cemetery, Buxton, erected in 1915. From the National Heritage List for England: 'SK07SE 616-1/2/94 BUXTON ASHBOURNE ROAD (north east side) Tombstone of Micah Salt in Buxton Cemetery, Tomb No.2798 II Tombstone of Micah Salt. 1915. Carved gritstone cross, and base, with shaped marble kerbstone to plot. Replica of Anglo-Saxon cross in Eyam cemetery. Cross on tapering shaft and shaped base. East face has carved angels to each arm and central roundel. The shaft has rolled edges and five panels, the first two representing the Virgin Mary with infant Christ, the others with interlace resembling strapwork. West face has carved figures to cross head and vine scroll motif to shaft. North and south faces have similar scroll motif. Attached to the base is the shaped kerbstone which bears the inscriptions: Micah Salt of Buxton 1847-1915 REST IN PEACE. MARIA SALT 1857-1927. Louise Anne Salt DIED Jan 1st 1953.
