Castle Hill Cottage and Castle Hill Farmhouse, Baslow Road, Bakewell, a pair of probably late 18th century houses. From the National Heritage List for England: 'BAKEWELL SK2168 BASLOW ROAD 831-1/4/13 (East side) 20/05/74 Castle Hill Cottage and Castle Hill Farmhouse (Formerly Listed as: BASLOW ROAD Castle Hill Cottage Farmhouse) II 2 houses. Probably late C18, C20 alterations and additions. Rubble limestone with ashlar sandstone dressings; stone slate and concrete tile roofs. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 5-window range. The left end bay of C20 construction and under higher roof along with the adjacent end bay of the original range. Large quoins. Castle Hill Farmhouse (to right) has central doorway with boarded door in triangular-headed stone surround. Projecting stone sills and quoined surrounds to 8/8 horizontally-sliding sashes; matching 6/6 sashes above. End stack on right and larger ridge stack on party wall. Castle Hill Cottage (to left) is generally the same; the original doorway now has a French window. The original left end bay now beneath taller roof of matching C20 addition. Ashlar end stack and ridge stack. INTERIOR: not inspected. Listing NGR: SK2192568961.' (1)
