The Queens Arms Hotel, Bridge Street, Bakewell, a late 18th or early 19th century building with a 16th century cruck frame. From the National Heritage List for England: 'BAKEWELL SK2168 BRIDGE STREET 831-1/4/34 (South side) 13/03/51 The Queens Arm's Hotel (Formerly Listed as: BRIDGE STREET (South side) The Queen's Arms Public House) GV II Public house. Late C18-early C19 of several builds incorporating fragment of probably C16 cruck-framed core. Coursed sandstone; stone slate and concrete-tile roofs. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 2 plus 2-window range to Bridge Street; 3 plus 2-window range on main entrance front to Market Street. Painted ashlar surrounds with projecting sills to the window openings. Market Street front: right part has part-glazed door with foot-scraper to right and paired 6/6 sashes in mullioned opening beyond. Against left jamb of door is an 8/8 sash; further left a 6/6 sash which abuts quoins of adjoining range. First floor: 2 8/8 sashes. All but first-floor left window have slender glazing bars. Adjacent 3-bay part: large quoins; 6/6 sashes. Hipped left end to roof; 2 ashlar ridge stacks with bands; single-flue end stack to far right. Bridge Street front: 2 bays to left set forward; 2/2 sashes. Doorway set back on right with C20 door and plain overlight; 2/2 sash over. Corner bay with quoins facing right then paired 2/2 sashes in mullioned opening beneath an 8/8 sash. INTERIOR: cruck truss partially exposed in party wall with Premises of John Brocklehurst, Bridge Street (qv). Listing NGR: SK2188268592.' (1)
