Full Description

Riversdale, Castle Street, Bakewell, a mid-19th century building. From the National Heritage List for England: 'BAKEWELL SK2168 CASTLE STREET 831-1/4/79 (West side) 07/01/70 Riversdale GV II House. c1830-40. Herringbone-dressed, deeply-coursed sandstone; stone slate roof. Tudor Revival style. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 4-window range. Door to left of centre has late C19 panelled door with 2 blue-glass lights and original brass furniture; foot-scraper recess to left; ashlar surround with hoodmould. 8/8 sashes have projecting stone sills to ashlar surrounds with hoodmoulds. Eaves band. End stacks and stack to right of bay 3 each with twin diagonally-set flues, bands and moulded cornices. INTERIOR: not inspected. Continuous in construction with the Castle Hotel, Bridge Street (qv). Listing NGR: SK2188068658.' (1)
