Full Description

Former stable and cart shed, Holme Lane, Bakewell, an early 19th century building. From the National Heritage List for England: 'BAKEWELL SK2169 HOLME LANE 831-1/3/102 (South side) Stable building at west end of water meadow to south of Holme Grange GV II Carthouse and stable. Early C19. Limestone rubble with sandstone dressings; stone slate roof. EXTERIOR: single storey, 2 cells. C20 boarded doors to quoined cart entrance on left. To right is a stable door in shallow, triangular-headed surround flanked by C20 casements with flush stone sills and deep lintels. Ashlar ridge stack on dividing wall has band and cornice. INTERIOR: not inspected. An unspoilt outbuilding in the traditional form of a smithy. Listing NGR: SK2161369008.' (1)
