Nos. 1 and 4 Rutland Terrace and Flats 1-6 Recency House, Buxton Road, Bakewell, an early 19th century terrace. From the National Heritage List for England: 'BAKEWELL SK2168 BUXTON ROAD 831-1/4/66 (South West side) 20/05/74 Rutland Terrace: Nos.1 AND 4 and Regency House: Flats 1-6 (Consecutive) (Formerly Listed as: BUXTON ROAD (South West side) Nos.1-4 (Consecutive) Rutland Terrace. Railed wall and Gates to Nos.1-4) GV II Terrace of 4 houses, now flats. Early C19. Deeply coursed sandstone with ashlar dressings, limestone rubble to rear; Welsh slate roof. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys; repeated sequence of four 3-bay symmetrical facades framed by pilasters with moulded capitals. Plinth. Projecting sills to 6/6 sashes in plain surrounds; first-floor sill band; 3/6 sashes to second floor. Each house has central doorway with moulded 4-panel door and margin-glazed overlight beneath cornice on shaped brackets. Eaves band and unmoulded cornice with blocking course. Gable copings. Bands and cornices to end stacks and 4-flue stacks set on the party walls. Returns: the pilasters wrap around both front and rear corners. INTERIOR: not inspected. Listing NGR: SK2168768561.' (1)
