Bank, Bath Street, Bakewell, built in 1848. From the National Heritage List for England: 'BAKEWELL SK2168 BATH STREET 831-1/4/26 (North side) 07/01/70 Trustees Savings Bank (Formerly Listed as: BATH STREET (North side) Premises occupied by The Derby Trustees Savings Bank) GV II Bank. Dated 1848. Herringbone-tooled sandstone with ashlar dressings; Welsh slate roof. Classical style. EXTERIOR: single storey, 3 bays. Plinth; corniced pilasters at corners and bay divisions. Pilastered central doorcase with C20 metal doors in moulded stone architrave beneath plain entablature with blocking course. Outer bays have projecting stone sills and moulded architraves to large 6/6 sashes. Main entablature with 'SAVINGS BANK, 1848' in raised lettering on the frieze; moulded cornice with blocking course. Corniced ashlar ridge stack to centre of hipped roof with rolled lead ridges. INTERIOR: not inspected. Listing NGR: SK2177268610.' (1)
