Model Farm at Newton Park Farm, Farm Lane, Newton Solney, built in 1890. From the National Heritage List for England: 'This list entry was subject to a Minor Amendment on 25 October 2022 to correct a typo in the description and to reformat the text to current standards SK 22 SE 2/50 PARISH OF NEWTON SOLNEY FARM LANE Farm Buildings to North of Park Farmhouse and Attached Cottage GV II Extensive model farm complex. Dated 1890. Red brick with Welsh slate roofs, timber and cast iron. One and two storeys. Main E-plan range with the back of the E facing north and with covered yards filling the gaps of the E on the south side. West and east ranges continue southwards to enclose the crew yard. The back range of the E is of two storeys and has a central tower-like dovecote with pyramid roof, lantern and weathervane. To the north the ground floor has segment headed doorways and windows. On the south side the centre stroke of the E is twin gabled with decorative brick corbelling. Symmetrical with a pair of segment headed doorways in the centre and large flat arched entrances on either side with sliding doors. Keyed circular openings in the gable and datestones above inscribed 1890. Gabled covered yards on either side have four bays of iron columns supporting the slate roof with timber valencing to the gable ends with decorative terminations. The west range is single storeyed and repeats the gable as on the centre stroke of the E. Band of alternating windows and stable-type doors, all with segment heads. The east range is two storeyed and has a full height entrance through into the yard. Beyond is the barn with segment headed openings and decorative iron grills to the breathers. Beyond again is an attached cottage with gable stack. Double fronted elevation to east has central doorway with lean-to porch flanked by three-light segment headed casements. Two three-light flat arched casements above. Further gabled range attached to east with cart hovel with openings to north, divided by brick piers with rounded angles. The model farm was built for the Ratcliffe's of Newton Park. Listing NGR: SK2809724926.' (1)
