War Memorial, Market Place, Ilkeston, built c1920. From the National Heritage List for England: 'PARISH OF ILKESTON MARKET PLACE SK 4641 NW 7/47 War Memorial GV II War memorial. c1920. Ashlar. Cenotaph raised on three stone steps, square in plan, with square piers at the angles. Surrounded by twelve tapering stone piers with wrought iron railings between. The cenotaph has a chamfered plinth, rectangular base with chamfered top and a rectangular pier above with nicked corners and a step at the top. Base inscribed in relief on north and south faces OUR/GLORIOUS/DEAD and with inset metal panels on the east and west sides inscribed with the names of the men of Ilkeston killed in the two World Wars. The pier has a wreath to the west and a chamfered cross to the east. Listing NGR: SK4650441670' (1)
