The Hatherings, No. 52 Vicarage Lane, Little Eaton, built in 1910. From the National Heritage List for England: 'PARISH OF LITTLE EATON VICARAGE LANE SK 34 SE 1/75 (East Side) The Hatherings II House. 1910 by P H Currey of Currey & Thompson, for himself. Arts and Crafts style. Brick, mostly roughcast. Plain tile roof. Two massive brick ridge stacks and an external gable stack, with diamond plan shafts. Two storeys. Irregular plan and elevations. The principal garden front is of four bays. Projecting gabled bay to the left, with a slight bulge in the pitch of the roof, giving a curved outline. The ground floor has a 2-light casement window with square pane leaded lights. Similar 3-light window above, the centre light broader and with a shallow arch, a derivative from a Venetian window. Arrow slit window in the gable. To the right is a lean-to verandah and a 4-light casement window. Similar 4-light window above. To the right again a full height gabled canted bay with a window to each floor. The upper window forms a continuous glazed band with the window to the left. To the right again the roof descends to a lower point and there is only a 3-light ground floor window. The entrance elevation has three gables. A broad gable to the left, the left side descending lower than the right side. Two single light windows to the ground floor, a 2-light above and a 2-light in the gable. Entrance bay set back to the right, with a 2-light window and a round arched entrance and a glazed grid door. Lean-to roof above and a gabled dormer with a 4-light window. Projecting bay to right with external stack flanked by single light windows to the upper floor. All the windows have leaded lights and 'Arts and Crafts' wrought ironwork. The interior is virtually unaltered. Hall with large inglenook and a plain stone fireplace with joggle jointed lintel. Stained panelling and a decorative plaster frieze. Reminiscent of a medieval open hall with a screen's entrance and dais at the upper end with a bay window. Drawing room has a coved cornice and tiled fireplace with wooden surround. Oak doors with wrought iron latches. Dining room has a tiled fireplaced with eared surround. Staircase with widely spaced splat balusters. The bedrooms have a variety of tiled fireplaces in plain chamfered wooden surrounds. Listing NGR: SK3602241850.' (1)
