Full Description

SK 1665 91140: Ouzelden Clough, Quernstone: The bottom stone of a quern, without the central hole, but with a groove across the centre, was found about 1952 on the W. side of Derwent Reservoir, north of Ouzelden Clough, by Mr. A.H. Henderson of the Hunter Arch. Soc. inhis possession. (1) Mr. Henderson could not be contacted. No further information. (2) The location described in Authy. 1 falls in SK 1691. See also SK 19 SE 11. (3) Dimensions: Diam. = 300mm, Height = 210mm. The find represents the lower unfinished stone of a rotary quern. (4)
