PARISH OF CASTLETON CASTLETON ROAD SK 18 SE 7/31 (North Side) Loosehill Hall GV II House, 1882. Coursed squared limestone with gritstone dressings. Welsh slate roof with moulded stone coped gables with plain kneelers and finials. Stone ridge and eaves stacks. Tudor style. Two storeys, asymmetrical plan and elevations. East front with projecting gabled bay to left with canted bay window and 3-light window above, each with mullions and a transom and arched lights, Round headed window above of 2-lights with Perp style tracery and hoodmould. First and second floor string bands. Bay to the right well set back with large 5-light Perp style staircase window with transom and leaded lights to first floor. Projecting single storey polygonal porch with flat roof and arcaded parapet. Moulded Tudor arched doorway with label moulding with, stops. Diagonal buttresses. Corbelled out chimney stack to left with shield dated 1882. Further three bays set back to right; the first two with single light transomed windows to each floor, the third bay gabled with 2-light mullioned and transomed windows to each floor and smaller one to attic. South elevation has projecting gabled bay to left and gabled bay window to right. 1, 2, 3 and 5-light mullioned and transomed windows. Mid-C20 additions attached to west. Interior with good contemporary staircase.
