Full Description

The Old Rectory, Tamworth Road, Sawley, built c1823. From the National Heritage List for England: 'PARISH OF LONG EATON TAMWORTH ROAD, SK 43 SE 4/41 SAWLEY (South Side) Sawley Rectory GV II Rectory. c1823 with mid C19 additions. Red brick with brick and stone dressings. Hipped slate roof with wide overhanging eaves and brick ridge and side wall stacks. Two storeys and four bays. Main elevation has mid C19 square bay windows to either end bay, both with a central tripartite glazing bar sash in pilastered stone surround with stone cornice above. Between the two bays is a delicate mid C19 ironwork verandah with two early C19 glazing bar sashes behind. Above, four uneven glazing bar sashes. The western bay is a mid C19 addition and has two inset decorative panels, one over the other, on its western elevation. Recessed addition to east and rear addition of no interest.
