Folly comprised of medieval arch from Burton Bridge, off Newton Road, Newton Solney, positioned in the 19th century. From the National Heritage List for England: 'PARISH OF NEWTON SOLNEY OFF NEWTON ROAD SK 22 NE 1/60 (South Side) 19-1-67 Medieval Arch from Burton Bridge in Newton Park GV II Folly made up from one of the arches from a medieval bridge at Burton-on-Trent, incorporating extensive re-used carved stones of various medieval dates. Medieval and C19 coursed squared sandstone and ashlar. Steeply pointed chamfered arch, with two heavy ribs below. Stepped parapet. Carved stones set in the spandrels, mostly medieval mouldings, and including a carved head and ogee niche. Built as a garden ornament to Newton Park. Listing NGR: SK2775825309.' (1)
