The School House, The Green, Bretby, built in 1806. From the National Heritage List for England: 'PARISH OF BRETBY THE GREEN (North Side) SK 22 SE Bretby Old School 2/1118-1-74 GV II School, now house. Dated 1806 and possibly by William Martin the Earl of Chesterfield's estate architect. C20 upper storey to south east. Red brick with plain tile hipped roofs and three brick ridge stacks. One and two storeys. Elevation towards the Green of 2-1-2 bays, originally symmetrical. Two storey projecting centre bay has a 3-light four-centred arched window to each floor with splayed brick voussoirs. Between them a stone panel inscribed BRADBY SCHOOL/OPENED FOR THE ADMISSION OF SCHOLARS/OCTOBER 20th 1806. To the left a gabled wooden porch with latticework sides, and half glazed door. To the left again two similar 2-light windows with four-centred arches. To the right are two similar but taller windows and two gabled C20 dormers above. Listed for group value only.
