Hilton Lodge, Derby Road, Hilton, originally an 18th century building. From the National Heritage List for England: 'SK 23 SE PARISH OF HILTON DERBY ROAD 4/33 (South Side) Hilton Lodge 19.1.67 (formerly listed as 'Hilton Lodge with entrance Lodge') GV II House. Early C19, probably with C18 core, and various minor later alterations and additions. Rendered and painted brick with shallow pitched, hipped slate roof and rendered side wall and ridge stacks. Two storeys and three bays by five bays with an irregular plan. South elevation has two full height segmental bays, each with triple, stepped Gothic traceried pointed full height windows, central window with double glazing bar doors and side windows with fixed panes. Above, single pointed Gothic traceried glazing bar sashes to each bay and similar narrower sash between. West elevation has lower range to north with two pointed Gothic traceried glazing bar sashes to north and triple stepped window, similar to those on south facade, to south in single storey bow with balcony over. Above, four pointed Gothic glazing bar sashes. To south, taller section has shallow gabled porch with pointed doorcase decorated by small circles in the spandrels. Inner door is also pointed with glazed panelled door. Rear elevation has large late C19 addition to east and tall watertower with hipped roof to west, also late C19. Interior has elegant Hoptonwood marble, stick baluster staircase with ramped and wreathed handrail, also applied moulding panels to drawing room and re-set early C18 carved fireplace. Ground floor rooms have re-used mahogany panelled doors. All rooms have original reeded cornices. Listing NGR: SK2581531334.' (1)
